MissionWe empower at-risk teens and young adults from across the United States and Colorado’s Roaring Fork Valley to over-come their obstacles and achieve their potential by providing transforming experiences and continuous follow-up support. The 'I Have a D.R.E.A.M' Day Camp is coming up!
July 27th - 31st, 2009 Roaring Fork High School, Carbondale, CO
9 am - 3 pm daily
The “I Have a D.R.E.A.M” Day Camp is designed to provide “at-risk” or “potentially at-risk” youth with an opportunity to step outside their physical, emotional and psychological comfort zone. Through a series of teambuilding activities, hands-on projects, off-site trips & ropes course activities, participants will be challenged to build self-esteem & self-confidence and to see possibilities beyond their perceived limitations. Participants will also explore their relationship to nature and the environment as well as their role in community improvement. Within a safe, supportive & nurturing environment, participants will work on communication skills, teamwork, problem-solving, developing trust in self and others, setting realistic & achievable goals, anger-management & conflict resolution, ecological responsibility, community awareness & improving primary relationships (with family, siblings, peers, & authority figures). In the tradition of Aspen Youth Experience’s “Outdoor Experiential Programs,” this 5-day “Day Camp” will provide youth with an opportunity to experience interpersonal growth through challenging teambuilding & ropes course activities.
